What I work with
The work I most often do with clients. If what brings you here isn’t listed, it is still worth asking.
These are the areas I have the most training and the most experience in. They are also, not coincidentally, connected: most of what is listed here comes back in one way or another to what relationships do to people, and what people carry afterwards.
You do not need a diagnosis, and you do not need to have decided which of these describes you. People often arrive naming one thing and find that what actually needs attention is next to it. That is a normal part of the work rather than a false start.
-
Trauma & PTSD
For experiences that ended a long time ago and still arrive in the present.
-
Domestic & Intimate Partner Violence
For what a relationship did to you, whether you are still in it or long out of it.
-
Multicultural & Latina Identity
For the parts of yourself that don’t translate the same way in every room you’re in.
-
Anger Management
For anger that is costing you the people you care about.
-
Codependency
For losing track of where you end and someone else begins.
-
Women’s Issues
For what gets asked of women and rarely named as a demand.
If what you are carrying is not on this list, ask anyway. If it is genuinely outside what I can help with, I would rather tell you and point you somewhere better than take a first appointment to find out.
What if I don’t know which of these applies to me?
That is a very common place to start. You don’t need to arrive with the right label — describing what has actually been happening is more useful to me than a category.
Do you work with couples or families?
No. I work with adults individually. If couples work is what you need, I can suggest looking for a therapist who specialises in it.
