I work with adults in Pittsburgh and across Allegheny County by secure video. I am licensed in Pennsylvania, and my work centers on trauma, relationships, and patterns that have been running a long time.

All sessions are held online by secure video. I am licensed in Pennsylvania and Virginia, and can work with adults living anywhere in Pennsylvania. $160 per 50 minute session.

What brings people in Pittsburgh to therapy

Pittsburgh is a city that spent seventy years losing people and has just started gaining them again — the city added roughly 4,600 residents between 2020 and 2025, the largest numeric gain of any municipality in Pennsylvania, even as the wider metro of about 2.4 million continued to shrink. That combination produces a specific split. There are people here whose families have been in these neighborhoods for four generations, and people who arrived three years ago for a job at a hospital, a lab, or a robotics company, and the two are often sitting in the same room not quite understanding each other.

Education and health care is by a wide margin the largest employment sector in the region, at roughly 267,000 jobs. A great deal of what I hear from this city comes from inside that: clinicians, residents, researchers, nurses and grad students who spend their working lives attending to other people’s crises and have no framework for their own. Caregiving professions select for people who are good at not needing anything, and that is usually a skill learned early and at some cost.

The practical problem in Pittsburgh is not that people do not want therapy. It is that the wait is real — appointment waits in this region run anywhere from three weeks to six months depending on specialty, and demand is growing against supply at something like four and a half to one. Trauma-specific work is harder to find than general talk therapy, and being told to call back in the spring is its own small injury when you have finally decided to ask for help. Working online, I am not adding to a local waitlist; my availability is my availability regardless of which end of the state you are on.

Pittsburgh is also, famously, a city of neighborhoods where everyone knows someone. That has a warmth to it and it has a cost, and the cost is privacy. Meeting from your own home rather than a waiting room in Shadyside removes a barrier that, for some people, is the actual barrier.

What I most often work on with clients here

  • Trauma & PTSD

For experiences that ended a long time ago and still arrive in the present.

  • Codependency

For losing track of where you end and someone else begins.

  • Women’s Issues

For what gets asked of women and rarely named as a demand.

Local support in Pittsburgh

These are not my services. They are here because they may be more useful to you right now than I am — local organisations offer shelter, court advocacy and support groups that a national line can only refer you on to.

Their own site carries the current hotline number. If you need someone right now, use the numbers below.

Questions about therapy in Pittsburgh

Are you based in Pittsburgh?

No — I'm in Philadelphia, and I don't have an office anywhere. I'm licensed in Pennsylvania, which means I can work with adults anywhere in the state, and everything is by secure video. Being on the other side of the state makes no difference to a session.

How soon could I start?

That depends on what I have open, but it is not governed by a Pittsburgh waitlist. If I don't have something workable I'll tell you at the consultation rather than put you in a queue.

What does a session cost?

My rate is $160 per 50 minute session. I do not accept insurance, but I can provide a superbill you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement.

Interested in working together?

I offer a free consultation to see whether we are a good fit. Sessions are online, $160 per 50 minute session.
