Therapy in Pennsylvania

I built this practice in Philadelphia, and most of what I know about doing this work I learned here — first in domestic violence crisis services, then in clinical work with people who had acted harmfully toward their partners and families, and then in private practice.

Pennsylvania is several very different places. What arrives in a session from someone in Northwest Philadelphia is not what arrives from someone in Bucks County or outside Pittsburgh, and the differences are not only about money. They are about how close the nearest available therapist is, whether the people around you talk about therapy or don’t, and how much anonymity you have. Seeing someone by video, rather than parking outside an office in a town where you know people, matters more in some parts of this state than others.

Working online means I am not limited to the neighborhoods within driving distance of Philadelphia. If you are in a part of Pennsylvania where the nearest trauma-trained therapist has a six-month waitlist — which is most of it outside the southeast corner — that constraint does not apply here.
